from American Dental Association
The American Dental Association will continue to challenge the Red Flags rule while the Federal Trade Commission delays enforcement until August 1, ADA President John S. Findley told members in an April 30 e-gram. New Study Overturns Orthodoxy on How Macrophages Kill Bacteria
from Infection Control Today
For decades, microbiologists assumed that macrophages, immune cells that can engulf and poison bacteria and other pathogens, killed microbes by damaging their DNA. A new study from the University of Illinois disproves that. The study, published in the journal PLoS One, shows that macrophages focus their most potent poisons, known as reactive oxygen species, on targets outside the cytoplasm. More    E-mail article

Council Mandates Information Sheet Signings for Dental Fillings
from Philadelphia Inquirer
Lying flat on his back as the dentist drilled into a top-left molar to place a silvery filling - his 10th - Kareem Johnson, 33, was vaguely aware of controversy about dental amalgam, which contains a form of mercury.
