New for Green Buildings: City Parks in the Sky
from Greentech Media The Shanghai Center, due to open in 2014, won’t just be the world’s second tallest building at 632 meters. It will also be a set of neighborhoods stacked on top of each other. The building will contain eight separate neighborhoods each 14 stories tall, says Dan Winey, managing principal for the Asia Pacific office of the architectural firm Gensler, which designed the building. These neighborhoods will contain retail outlets, office space and residences. But at the outer perimeter of each floor of these neighborhoods will be city parks complete with trees, tables and all of the other stuff one would expect in a city park. More

Walkie Talkie Building Gets Green Light...Again

Rafael Viñoly's distinctive 'Walkie Talkie' building recently underwent a design review, which has now passed muster with City councilors. The bulbous tower will stand 160m over Fenchurch Street, like a giant robotic cobra, and a publicly accessible 'sky garden' will crown the structure. That's if it ever gets built. More
Building Made Entirely of Recycled Kitchen Sinks

Built by 2012 Architechten in cooperation with Jeanne van Heeswijks of Jeanneworks, the structure has risen up as a stainless steel castle tower amidst the traditional architecture of Utrecht, Vlaardingen and Amsterdam.
