Certified Plant Maintenance Manager Course Set for February, March ‘09 Course participants will become proficient in preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, work flow-planning and scheduling, computerized maintenance, investment returns and Total Productive Management. Upon successful completion of an exam, they will earn the prestigious CPMM credential. The live, interactive online course will be taught 12-4 p.m. ET on Feb. 2, 5, 9, 12, 16, 19, 23 and 26. The Indianapolis course will be taught at downtown site 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 16-20. AFE Region II is helping coordinate it. Maintenance professionals also may opt to pursue the CPMM course and be tested on their own, at any time throughout the year. The same application requirements apply. As a study aid, AFE offers the “CPMM Review Pak” containing the topics contained by the exam. To apply go to https://www.afe.org/certification/cpmm_applic.cfm. The Cool Economic Draw of Thermal Energy from AFE David Odom and George DuBose of Liberty Building Forensics Group will conduct a webinar on the hidden risks of green buildings on Oct. 29. Other one-hour webinars coming up: how ductless mini-split heat pumps can reduce energy costs with Gary Nordeen and Bill Kingrey, PE, of the Northwest Building Efficiency Center/Washington State University Extension Energy Program on Nov. 5; mold in ductwork with AFE member Roger Morse of Morse Zehnter Associates on Nov. 12, and achieving sustainable buildings with Susan Haifleigh, an executive at VFA Inc., on Jan. 13. All current members can attend for free. Non-members are welcome; the cost to them is $99 per person, per session.
