Sprinkler System Saves Couple, Small Child from ENC Today – March 25, 2009
A sprinkler system in a New Bern, N.C., apartment building saved a family, neighbors and property damage. Fire broke out in a bedroom at an apartment unit. The sprinkler system in the apartment's bedroom was activated by the heat, enabling a couple and their small child to escape harm.

Michigan Residence Hall Fire Extinguished by Sprinklers
from Ann Arbor News – March 26, 2009 Students were evacuated from a University of Michigan residence hall after a small fire was intentionally set in the hallway of a lower floor, campus police reported.
The residence hall's sprinkler system extinguished the fire quickly, said Diane Brown, a spokeswoman for the campus police.

New Bill Would Provide Nursing Homes with Funding for Sprinklers

In this version of the bill, introduced by Rep. John Larson (D-Conn.), lawmakers would make available $450 million in direct loans and $100 million in assistance grants over the next five fiscal years for retrofitting and installation of sprinkler systems in all nursing homes.
