Firefighters Demonstrate Sprinkler Safety in Tennessee

Firefighters in one Tennessee community say their town is safer because of sprinklers.
Pleasant View, Tenn., started requiring them in all new homes in 2005 and businesses since 2001. One reason the community made the decision to require sprinklers is the fact its fire department is all volunteers.

Wisconsin Nursing Home Saved by Sprinklers

No one was injured in a fire at a Black River Falls, Wis., nursing home.
Sparks from the motor of an air exchanger ignited a stack of towels in the laundry room, according to the Black River Falls Fire Department.
The fire was extinguished by the sprinkler system and firefighters.

A gas explosion rocked a townhouse complex in Port Coquitlam's Citadel Heights in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia. By the time crews arrived most of the fire from the explosion had been suppressed by the townhouse's sprinkler system. Firefighters put out several small fires and evacuated neighbors.
