Oklahoma Residential Fire Put Out by Sprinklers from the Tulsa World – Sept. 29, 2009 Tulsa firefighters found heavy smoke and an activated sprinkler system at a house fire Tuesday morning, said spokesman Bill French. The activated sprinkler system extinguished the main body of the fire, which crews determined was caused by improper storage of materials, French said. There were no injuries reported from the fire.

Marine Base Awards Bid for $5.5 Million Sprinkler System
from the Desert Dispatch – Sept. 28, 2009 Three warehouses at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Barstow, Calif. will soon be getting new sprinkler systems to the tune of $5.5 million. A bid was awarded to AFSA contractor member Pro-Tech Fire Protection Systems Corp. and Conesco, Inc.

Sprinkler Protection of Storage Facilities Goes Green
from PM Engineer – Sept. 28, 2009 Fire sprinkler systems have been “green” throughout their long existence. They use less water for fire suppression and control than the manual methods used by the responding fire department. They save the structure and the commodities, which equates to less materials and energy usage required for rebuilding and replacement of products. With the worldwide concern over diminishing water supplies for domestic and industry usage, the fire protection industry is now looking at new technology to further reduce the designed water demand for sprinkler systems and the amount of water that needs to be stored when municipal water services cannot provide sufficient water flow.

Sprinklers Douse Florida Chemical Fire from Bay News 9 – Sept. 27, 2009 Crews from several fire departments battled a chemical fire in Pinellas Park, Fla. The fire took place at a plastic and rubber manufacturing company. The Pinellas Park Fire Department said the sprinkler system in the building extinguished the flames. More
