Fire Prevention Week Starting Off with a Blaze in Sioux City, Iowa from KTIV - Oct. 4, 2009
It's a scary figure, but every year around 3000 people die in house fires across the nation. This past Sunday kicked off fire prevention week all across Sioux City, Iowa, its purpose is teaching people about fire safety. Burning Fire at Eastern Illinois University Aids Fire Prevention
from the Daily Eastern News - Oct, 5, 2009 Fire set inside two mock dorm rooms carried its heat across the entire South Quad. In light of Fire Prevention Week, the Charleston, Ill., Fire Department used these dorms to demonstrate the importance of sprinkler systems.
Within the past nine years, 135 college students have died due to fires in their dorms.
Only six of those occurred last year, because of more sprinkler systems being added to college campuses.

Spokane, Wash., Firefighters Demonstrate Benefits of Sprinkler Systems from KHQ – Sept. 30, 2009 Fire sprinkler systems are common in commercial buildings across the country, but not in homes.
