Sprinklers Contain Blaze at Toronto Landmark Cathedral
from The Star – Nov. 15, 2008 Church officials are praying they'll be able to open St. James Cathedral for a worship service after the Toronto landmark caught fire. "Ten fire trucks arrived and 10 minutes later the fire was out," said Toronto District Fire Chief Don Beam.
"The main body of the fire was held back by the sprinkler system, said Beam, after walking through the smoke-filled cathedral to assess the damage.

Sprinkler Aids Firefighters in Garage Fire
from Vero Beach Press-Journal - Nov. 13, 2008 Martin County Fire Rescue firefighters quickly extinguished a blaze in a garaged sport utility vehicle’s engine compartment during an incident that caused no injuries in Stuart, Fla., a fire official said. The SUV was in the garage of the two-story residence and an apparent electrical short sparked a fire, which ended up causing more smoke than fire, Battalion Chief Hoss Wiggins said. An overhead sprinkler system in the garage helped keep the fire from growing worse. “Everything worked like fire prevention is designed to,” Wiggins said. More
