Attorney General Koster Sues Unscrupulous Locksmith Company

 Attorney General Chris Koster took action today to stop a Florida locksmith company from deceiving and overcharging customers in Kansas City, Mo.
According to the Attorney General, Dependable Locks, Inc., violated Missouri law by fraudulently advertising itself by at least 16 different names that all led consumers to one company. In addition, company workers charged consumers 2-3 times more than the price quoted them to unlock their cars.

Home Security System could be Medical Treatment

A home security system can be considered medical treatment under the state’s Workers’ Compensation Act, the Court of Special Appeals has held. The decision could mean the Comfort Suites hotel in Chestertown will have to pay to install a home alarm system for Carol Simmons, who was brutally attacked by a robber while on the job in September 2006. While Judge Kathryn Grill Graeff agreed “medical treatment” has a liberal definition under the Workers’ Compensation Act, she made clear the appellate court ruling did not mean home security systems are medical treatment in Simmons’ or any other case.
