How to Get That Olympic Body
from Daily Herald- Chicago
Olympic multi-medalist Michael Phelps carries a classic swimmer's frame: broad shoulders, narrow hips, and paddle-like size 14 feet. He also has built his shoulders into muscled machines that propel him through the water. No one else has Phelps' genetics - and few are going to put in the time and work it takes to become an Olympic swimmer. But even a couch potato can exercise the same areas that make Olympic athletes recognizable by their sport: swimmer's shoulders, gymnast's abs, and sprinter’s legs. More

Nutrition Truths for Endurance Athletes
from Inside Triathlon
You are responsible for experimenting in training (before the actual event or race) to discover and build a repertoire of acceptable foods and drinks, and any other supplements, that you will use to meet your fluid, energy, and electrolyte needs during long-distance events and races. from Pentagraph.com
The 2008 Olympic Games are sure to inspire some Central Illinoisans to get on the track, hit the weights, grab a ball and head to the gym, or jump in the pool. That's great. But some people will overdo it, get injured and bring to a screeching halt what could have been a nice return to fitness. It doesn't have to be that way, several Bloomington-Normal fitness professionals said. More

from Highlands Today
Morning is just coming alive as dozens of kids enter the cold water at Avon Park High School in Florida—half asleep and with nothing more than an internal compass to guide them to their ultimate goal.
