Hospital Rooms Going High-Tech from Democrat and Chronicle The hospital room of the future will be bigger, private, quieter and more high-tech, but each renovated room could cost $100,000 or more to construct, according to Rochester, N.Y., area hospital officials. Many hospitals are planning expansion and renovation projects that will create not only additional rooms but ones that look different. The goals are to reduce the spread of infection, improve patient privacy, better accommodate relatives, speed patient admissions, reduce errors and be competitive. Rooms may look more like hotel rooms with soft colors, artwork, natural light and flat-screen TVs.
