According to a recent Gallup poll, only 58 percent of the general public is convinced that global warming is caused by man, which means that nearly half of us remain skeptical. As it turns out, some of those skeptics are design professionals. Architect magazine reports that in a survey it conducted in the summer, one third of
the design professionals who responded said skepticism about climate change was "common" in their professional network, while nearly 13 percent answered that global warming was "a myth."More

The year ahead looks
increasingly positive for the active adult housing market, according to the NAHB's 50+ Housing Council. But joblessness and tighter credit conditions still linger as constraints on sales and construction activity, they said, and in the early stages of recovery prospective buyers will continue to be price-conscious and to demonstrate restraint. The recovery is likely to start out gradually, but within the next two years, as the first Boomers turn 65, they expect to see a significant
rebound.More

The graying of America may arguably be one of the single most dramatic demographic megatrends shaping our landscape.
Although the U.S. population growth for individuals age 55 and over during the past nine years hasn't been impressive—from 21.06 percent to 24.17 percent—growth for individuals age 55-64 increased by 30 percent over the same period. Not unlike many of the uber-creative expatriates that have taken up residence there, two enterprising artists, Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset, decided it was time to purchase and renovate a place of their own. So what can $700,000 get you in a city
like Berlin? An apartment? A loft? Maybe a small house? How about a massive water pumping station?More
