Trophy Hunting Industry Marketing Challenged by State of Global Economy from the Namibia Economist
The main focus of the Namibian trophy hunting industry’s marketing campaigns takes place at dedicated sport hunting conventions in the U.S., Europe and Asia annually from January to March. Record numbers of Namibian trophy hunting operators again exhibited at these hunting shows. Traditionally international hunting conventions have always been very effective marketing tools for hunting outfitters from all over the world, giving them the opportunity to meet and interact with thousands of potential trophy hunting clients. However, based on the feedback received from trophy hunting operators who have recently returned from marketing trips, the prospects for the international safari industry has been negatively affected by the current global economic challenges.

Hunters, Anglers have Chance to Comment on Fee Proposal from the Austin American-Statesman Hunters and anglers have just a few public meetings standing between themselves and fee increases for hunting and fishing licenses. In the next month, Texas Parks and Wildlife personnel will hold a series of open meetings to discuss what the department called in a press release a "modest $2-$4 bump" in the cost of a license. Legislature Ponders Pass Closure, Crossbows from the Houston Chronicle Rollover Pass isn’t being closed — at least not yet. But the possibility of the popular-with-anglers, man-made cut across Bolivar Peninsula being filled is much closer to reality than it was just a month ago. So, too, is the possibility of allowing use of crossbows during Texas’ archery-only hunting seasons -- a move that has drawn angry opposition from some bowhunters who see crossbows as the camel’s nose under the tent in a conspiracy to open the floodgates to a month -- October -- that for more than three decades has been exclusively reserved for “traditional” archery hunting.

Hogzilla: Michigan Couple Slays 514-pound Beast from The Muskegon Chronicle Jim and Tina Boes were settling in to watch the Detroit Tigers game on television Sunday afternoon when they spotted a massive feral hog in the brush behind their home in northern Muskegon County, Mich.
