Apply for Texas Hunting Drawings Now from Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Applications for more than 5,700 hunters to receive special hunts through random computer drawings by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for wildlife management areas, state parks and leased private property are available online. These supervised hunts include white-tailed deer, mule deer, pronghorn, javelina, alligator, exotics, feral hog and spring turkey. Eight of the hunts are for youths, ages 8-16 only. As many as four hunters can apply together on one application. More

New York DEC Considers Allowing Bear Hunting in Northern County from Rochester Democrat and Chronicle Prompted by an expanding black bear population, the New York Department of Environmental Conservation has proposed opening new areas for hunting bears in the state, including parts of Monroe County. The changes would take effect this fall. In this part of New York, bear hunting has typically been limited to the Southern Tier. Gun Plan for National Parks Gets Extension
from Casper Star Tribune A controversial plan that would allow tourists to carry loaded guns in national parks is on hold, as pressure from critics has forced an extension of the public comment period through Aug. 8. Floated first by Congress and later considered by the White House, the plan would remove the current rule stating guns are allowed, but they must be properly stowed. The new proposal would replace the existing policy with a wide range of rules. More
