The idea that paperless and ticketless events will be the norm in the near future was just one of the hot topics of conversation at the first 'Gathering' event at Lord's Cricket Ground in London recently. At the event organized by the technology company, Etherlive, event organizers from agencies including Aztec Event Services and Zibrant and venues such as Ascot and Lord's debated the issues and upcoming trends faced by the industry. A number of organizers said the industry had predicted paperless events would become more common a couple of years ago, but the recession has delayed companies taking the leap with new technology. The Index reports that the overall exhibition industry hit bottom in 2010, and that the industry should see a modest recovery during the next three years in all metrics across most sectors. More
