DIY Electricians Warned: You're Dicing with Death from The Sydney Morning Herald Cash-strapped householders attempting DIY electrical work are risking death, with a new survey showing one in four people undertake repairs at home. New EnergyAustralia research shows householders are still trying to cut costs by doing electrical work themselves, even though it is illegal for anyone but a qualified electrician to do any such work. More CSA Announces Canada's First Comprehensive Standard for Workplace Electrical Safety from the Canadian Standards Association Canadian Standards Association (CSA) recently announced Canada’s first standard for workplace electrical safety. Across Canada in 2007 there were 472 known injuries with electric current on the job and nine fatalities. The previous year there were 567 injuries and 20 fatalities. CSA's Z462 Workplace Electrical Safety standard is designed to help prevent injuries and fatalities arising from the use of electricity on the job by specifying practical requirements for a safer workplace. More North Texas Cities Moving to Regulate Home Wind Turbines as Residents Express Interest from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram The latest must-have for budget-conscious homeowners with large back yards may soon be small wind turbines. Officials in Colleyville, Texas, and Southlake, Texas, have heard from residents interested in installing turbines on their property to reduce their electric bills and carbon footprints. Both cities are now looking at ways to regulate the structures before they begin transforming neighborhood landscapes.
