Failure Motivates KSU Wrestler
from Akron Beacon Journal During the college wrestling season countless hours are spent practicing. Five months are spent competing. Five seconds of that time isn't much at all. Unless you are Kent State senior heavyweight Jermail Porter. In those brief seconds, Porter found himself on the verge of earning All-American status last season, something no KSU wrestler has done since 1986. More
Untouchable Ness
from NCAA Jayson Ness recorded his second win over the nation's top-ranked 133 pounder in as many weekends, capping off a furious Minnesota comeback as the 10th-ranked Gophers (13-4, 3-0) upset No. 5 Ohio State (10-2, 1-1) on Sunday. The Gophers rallied from a 16-6 deficit by winning the last four matches of the dual to beat the Buckeyes at St. John's Arena in Columbus. Just one week after defeating then-No. 1 Franklin Gomez of Michigan State in Minneapolis, Ness knocked off current No. 1 Reece Humphrey on Sunday. After a scoreless opening period, Ness used a reversal in the second period and a takedown following a neutral start in the final stanza to secure his victory and the 18-16 dual meet win for Minnesota. Ex-rival Expects Perfection as Penn State Coach
from The Daily Collegian As Mark Perry walked around wrestling practice with his calming demeanor, one would never know a national wrestling legend was in the room. A combination of confidence and a genuine devotion to a sport he has grown up loving is displayed as he worked with his wrestlers in the Lorenzo Wrestling Complex. Not evident are any signs of lingering injuries that could have haunted his collegiate wrestling career. But those signs are still there, he just won’t let anybody notice. What is evident, however, is Perry’s innate desire to win at all costs. During short-goes at practice Thursday, Perry wrestled Jake Strayer, imitating the senior’s opponent to prepare him for his upcoming match against the No. 1 and No. 2 wrestlers in the country. More
A Different World from MSNsportsNET.com A small leap from one state to another in order to further one’s education seems relatively normal these days, especially for athletes. However, travel more than 3,000 miles, from the West Coast of the United States to the East Coast, and that will likely raise some eyebrows. For West Virginia’s David Jauregui, though, he never thought twice about his decision and what unknowns awaited him. More

Dwindling Roster Remains a Large Challenge for Princeton
from The Daily Princetonian As was the case last season, Princeton has been spread thin by injuries. The Tigers will forfeit matches in the 133- and 141-pound weight brackets for the remainder of the season. This will make winning dual meets difficult, as Princeton will cede 12 points in every match. The team’s focus going down the stretch will be on individuals. Ayres has stuck to his goal of getting at least one of his wrestlers to the NCAA tournament. More
