High Hopes For Hokies
from NCAA Virginia Tech took down defending Atlantic Coast Conference champion Maryland, 22-15, on Feb. 8 in front of a school-record crowd of 1,763. The Hokies are now 3-0 against ACC foes, and improved to 18-1 on the year. With the match deadlocked at 11-11 after the 165-pound bout, the No. 13 Hokies won three of the final four matches to secure the victory. Freshman Anthony Trongone (174) and sophomore Tommy Spellman (184) earned major decisions against their Terrapin opponents to spark the rally.

USAFA Huskies Fall to Colby 33-16
from NCWA The US Air Force Prep Husky wrestlers took on Community College powerhouse Colby CC. Prep School students and fans packed the fitness center gym to support the grapplers. It was a hard fought battle. The Huskies won three of ten bouts contested, but fell 33-16. Husky winners on the day included falls by Cole VonOhlen (141), and Tim Smell (197) and a major decision by Logan Burch (133). More
Cornell Wrestling Shows Who’s Boss Against Penn, Princeton
from The Cornell Daily Sun Cornell faced Princeton in what turned out to be a rout of the Tigers. Cornell used four pins and three forfeits as they romped to a 54-0 victory. The Red scored the maximum six points in seven of their matches. Top-ranked junior Troy Nickerson won by fall at 125 pounds. Sophomore Mack Lewnes and senior Steve Anceravage — ranked first and sixth in their respective weight classes — pinned opponents in consecutive matches at 165 pounds and 174 pounds. Freshman Cam Simaz, who has climbed to No. 16 in the 197-pound weight class rankings, also pinned his opponent from Princeton. Senior Zach Hammond and sophomores Mike Grey and Corey Manson each won by forfeit.

Brothers in Arms
from NCAA Ben and Gabe Youel started learning the sport of wrestling 15 years ago together, and the brothers are still together competing at North Central College as two of the nation’s best Division III wrestlers. The natives of Crystal Lake, Ill., were in first and second grade when their father, a former high school wrestler, brought them to a kids wrestling club at the local high school. More
Builders Knock Off Generals and Knights In Tri-Match
from NCWA Sophomore Daniel Hare's pin with 46 seconds left in the 184-pound match gave the Apprentice School a 22-21 victory over Washington & Lee University in a dual match in Lexington. More
Cougars Pick Up Two Wins
from NCWA The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville wrestlers Picked up two wins while traveling across the border to Indiana. The Cougar grapplers took a wins over Rend Lake 31-16 and Southern Indiana 30-18.Freshman Dillon Pousson at 141 pounds and Max Orris at 174 lbs both finished with a pin in each of their 2 matches. MMI Takes First at University of Georgia Tournament from NCWA Marion Military Institute was one of twelve schools that competed at the University of Georgia Tournament. Not only did Marion take home the First Place trophy but they also had a wrestler place in every weight class, a first in school history. MMI finished with 85 points while the University of Georgia took second with 34 points, followed by Kennesaw State University (24 points) and Mercer University (22 points).
