MSUM wrestling Coach Decides to Move On

One of the best wrestling programs in the region is looking for a new head coach. MSUM Athletic Director Doug Peters tells us tonight that Head Coach Keenan Spiess has resigned his post. UVU Officially Enters Division I

The wait is over. Utah Valley University is an official member of NCAA Division I. UVU officials announced at a news conference that NCAA Membership Services had unanimously agreed to relinquish the school's provisional status and accept it into NCAA Division I. Before beginning its seven-year provisional period in 2002-03, UVU was a junior college. The wrestling program will compete in the Western Wrestling Conference. More    E-mail article

Athletically, the University of Maryland is quite typical. It is a large, Division I school situated near well-populated urban areas that funnel their share of elite athletes toward the campus. It is a member of a competitive, high-level, high-profile conference, producing national contenders in all sports. But, there's one Maryland squad that has had to employ plenty of strength, speed, character and sweat to find its own way into the spotlight. Michigan's Massa Takes Another Step Toward Repeating as Triple Crown Winner

Michigan’s Taylor Massa is on a mission to win another Cadet Nationals Triple Crown. Massa remains alive in his quest to win his second straight Triple Crown in Cadets. Massa has won all six of his bouts by technical fall at 152 pounds. Massa, a Cadet champion at Folkstyle Nationals earlier this year, is trying to become the first wrestler to win back-to-back Triple Crowns in the Cadet division. Jack Maughan Says Goodbye to Head Coaching Position at Northern Colorado

Jack Maughan has announced his retirement after 22 seasons as head wrestling coach at the Greeley-based school, effective immediately, to focus all his energies as the athletic department's director of development, which he has also held in a dual role for about one year.
