New Coach at Syracuse Looks to Reclaim Past Glory

 Syracuse University is no stranger to success on the mat. Since the program’s inception in 1922, the Orange have had countless NCAA All-Americans, including NCAA champion Jim Nance. Syracuse also stakes claim to two Olympic wrestlers, one of which is local coach and celebrity Gene Mills. In 2001, Syracuse cut its legendary wrestling program. In 2003, Syracuse joined the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) in an effort to continue its rich wrestling tradition. As recently as 2008, the Orange qualified two wrestlers to NCWA nationals, but lack of leadership almost led to the demise of the program yet again. More

Wrestling Training Facility in the Works for Tulare, Calif.
from Athletic Business The organization that oversees amateur wrestling in the United States has chosen Tulare, Calif., as the site of a 100,000-square-foot training facility.
California USA Wrestling plans to build a sports complex and dorm near Preferred Outlets at Tulare. Construction is scheduled to be complete in early 2012.

Mike Rogers Named Assistant Wrestling Coach at American University
from TheMat.com American University Head Wrestling Coach Mark Cody has announced the hiring of Mike Rogers as an assistant coach. Rogers has nine years of coaching experience and was a two-time NCAA All-American.
Rogers has spent the last six years as the head coach of the Pennsylvania Junior Freestyle Team which he guided to two junior freestyle championships. He also served as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Lock Haven University, for the last four years.
