NCAA Wrestling Champ Phil Davis Wins Pro Debut

2008 NCAA champion and 4-time All-American wrestler Phil Davis won his professional mixed martial arts debut in Plymouth, Mass. Davis won a unanimous decision in the main event of "The Awakening" over Brett Chism of Valdosta, Ga. Chism was a solid opponent, coming into the fight with a record of 8-2 and four consecutive wins.

Twelve members of the Gardner-Webb wrestling team traveled to Puerto Rico over their fall break to compete at the Copa Sparta Open and each member came away having wrestled very well.

Young men who use anabolic steroids are twice as likely to engage in violence than those who do not use the muscle-building drugs, U.S. researchers said. While many scientists believe anabolic steroids -- synthetic drugs related to male sex hormones -- are linked to aggressive behavior, research has been limited. Some users refer to so-called "roid rage" fueled by the drugs.
