Ill From Food? Investigations Vary by State
from The New York Times
In just about every major contaminated food scare, Minnesotans become sick by the dozens while few people in Kentucky and other states are counted among the ill. Contaminated peanuts? Tackling the Ethics of Eating
from The Los Angeles Times
There was a time, not so long ago, when eating in an environmentally, ethically conscious way was a drab business − brown and beige food, with a few wilted organic vegetables relegated to a woebegone produce bin at the grocery store. But these days, everything is coming up green and, forgive us, groovy. More    E-mail article

Product Showcase:
Is your family Vitamin D deficient?

Our bodies can make vitamin D3, but only when our skin is exposed to sunlight under the proper conditions. This production is dependent on the season, where we live and the time of day. Even using sunscreen drastically reduces the body’s production of vitamin D. Medical studies continue to show the importance of adequate vitamin D intake for good health. Ddrops provide concentrated vitamin D3 in just one drop. Convenient, taste-free drops are an easy way to ensure you and your family receive the vitamin D you need. More

When Unhealthy Foods Hijack Overeaters' Brains

Food hijacked Dr. David Kessler's brain. Not apples or carrots. The scientist who once led the government's attack on addictive cigarettes can't wander through part of San Francisco without craving a local shop's chocolate-covered pretzels. Stop at one cookie? Rarely. It's not an addiction but it's similar, and he's far from alone. More    E-mail article

Keeping Slim is Good for the Planet
from Science Daily
Maintaining a healthy body weight is good news for the environment, according to a study in the International Journal of Epidemiology. Because food production is a major contributor to global warming, a lean population, such as that seen in Vietnam, will consume almost 20 percent less food and produce fewer greenhouse gases than a population in which 40 percent of people are obese. from U.S. News & World Report
