Weeklong Curfew Issued for Houston from FOX 26 News Houston's police chief issued a weeklong nighttime curfew for Texas' largest city, a day after Hurricane Ike barreled ashore just southeast of there. The citywide curfew, from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m., will be in place until Saturday, Sept. 20, Houston Police Chief Harold Hurtt said. Police have made about 30 looting arrests in the 24-hour period. Hurtt says the looting arrests were burglaries at pawnshops, convenience stores and auto-parts stores. More

Pawnbroker Bylaw Adopted in Canada from Prince George Citizen Final reading was given to a bylaw that will require second-hand dealers and pawnbrokers to collect, record and transmit to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) - Canada's national police force - an accurate record of all goods purchased and taken in pawn. It will also require that such goods not be altered, or sold. More
