EPA Proposes Significant New Use Rule For Certain Chemicals Known as Glymes
From July 27, 2011: "Glymes" or glycol diethers are solvents used in a wide array of applications, including industrial paints and coatings, adhesives, batteries, and motor vehicle brake systems.

South Coast Air Quality Management District Adopts Amendments to its AIM Coatings Rule 1113
From June 15, 2011: Amendments include lower volatile organic compound limits for 11 additional coatings categories.

The Changing Regulatory Environment for Aerosol Coatings
From May 4, 2011: While there are currently uniform standards regulating volatile organic compound emissions for aerosol coatings in the United States because of a U.S. EPA rule for which ACA vehemently advocated, the California Air Resources Board is engaged in a comprehensive review of its reactivity regulation that will result in new, more restricted proposed standards.

OTC to Adopt California Paint Thinner and Multipurpose Solvent Regulation
From March 23, 2011: OTC has released a draft white paper which provides background on the model rule, which would likely carry a compliance date of Jan. 1, 2014.

President Obama Signs into Law Repeal of 1099 Reporting Requirements
From May 4, 2011: The new 1099 reporting rules would have required businesses to track and file 1099 forms with the Internal Revenue Service for most business-to-business transactions in excess of $600 in a calendar year, beginning in 2012.

New Legislation to Ban Coal Tar-Based Coatings/Sealers for Driveways and Parking Lots
From April 20, 2011: In general, it appears that companies are either moving away from or no longer utilizing coal tar in their driveway sealer products.
