White House Backs Dealer Cuts

Class 5-7 Truck Sales to Drop 44 Percent This Year

Class 8 Truck Sales Improved in June

Class 8 truck sales rebounded slightly last month to a tune of 8,101 units for all major North American OEMs, marking a 9.7-percent increase from May and the first sales improvement in three months. With the latest uptick in sales, the annualized rate of orders ameliorates to 97,212 units, up from the previous three-month annualized rate of 94,872 units. More

Consumer Price Index Increases 0.7 Percent

The consumer price index gained 0.7 percent in June, the biggest jump since July 2008, the Labor Department said. The so-called core CPI, which excludes food and energy, rose 0.2 percent. More

U.S. Postal Service Gets Greener with 1,900 New Alternative-Fueled Vehicles

As part of a vehicle purchase by the U.S. General Service Administration, the U.S. Postal Service will be receiving 1,000 E-85 ethanol-capable and 900 gas/electric hybrid vehicles to replace the aging, less fuel-efficient vehicles in their fleet. Since 2006, USPS has increased alternative fuel usage by 41 percent, and continues planning to reduce total gas consumption by 20 percent over the next five years. By ordering its 1,900 new vehicles, which were completely paid for by the GSA, the Postal Service brings the total number of alternative-fuel-capable vehicles in its fleet to more than 43,000 vehicles. The USPS fleet currently sits at nearly 220,000 vehicles. More
