RV Park Becomes World Ice Art Carving Center from RV Travel Examiner
Prior to leaving Fairbanks, Alaska, I was fortunate to tour the annual World Ice Art Carving championship at the Ice RV Park not far from the Fairbanks Airport, said Bob Gorden, a columnist for the Phoenix RV Travel Examiner. The ice carvers come from all over the world to participate in this event. Carvers from Mongolia, France, Germany, Switzerland, the lower 48, including Arizona, and several from Alaska exhibited their skills. Although my creative ability is quite limited I do appreciate the skills of others. This is art in very masterful and pleasing form. The carving is done on huge blocks of clear, clean ice harvested from a pond at the RV Park. More

Living in His RV with a Glass-is-Half-Full Attitude from The Austin American-Statesman Richard Polley, a registered nurse for more than 20 years, is out of work because, as he explained it, people put off elective surgery when the economy is floundering. Polley said he has drastically pared his life down. With his dog Lucky, Polley now lives in the same small camper that gets him around — "the fastest hunk of junk in the RV camping world," he said. RV Industry Skids Off a Cliff from The Chicago Sun-Times Time was, Elkhart County, Ind., proudly boasted it was "The RV Capital of the World." Today, that title might be considered a millstone as the recreational vehicle industry has hit the skids. The Labor Department said Elkhart-Goshen had 18.3 percent unemployment, one of the highest for metro areas in the nation. Elkhart-Goshen, which once had more than 70 recreational vehicle plants and produced two-thirds of all RVs, has been bruised by layoffs. More

RV Dealers Say Sales are Improving from WBOC-TV Some RV dealers across Dover, Del., say this past year has been challenging with one dealer saying sales dropped nearly 50 percent. But, those same dealers say business has started to pick up. Kevin Alexander, owner of Alexander RV in Smyrna, Del., says business is finally turning around. In fact, he said sales have doubled since this time last year. Alexander says people are really interested in used inventory, because of their price. More
