RV Supplier Announces Second North Indiana Expansion

A recreational vehicle industry supplier has announced plans to expand and add jobs at a second northern Indiana plant. Executives of Dometic Corp. joined Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels at the company's plant in Elkhart, Ind., where it last month got city tax breaks for an expansion to add about 240 jobs. The company also said it would shift production of retractable RV awnings from a fire-damaged plant in Mexico to its factory in nearby LaGrange, where it plans to hire about 115 workers. California RV Parks, Campgrounds Offer $50 Promo Weekend in October

In a twofold effort to increase interest in shoulder season camping and lure first-time campers, about 60 private campgrounds and RV parks in California are offering two nights of camping for $50 on the first weekend of October. "More than 60 parks are participating in this promotion from virtually every region of the state," said Debbie Sipe, executive director of the California Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds. North Dakota RV Sales Up

Sales at RV and Bus Maker Thor Fall 23 percent in 2Q

Thor Industries Inc., a manufacturer of recreational vehicles and commercial business, said that its fiscal second-quarter sales fell 22.8 percent on lower demand. Sales were $440 million for the quarter ended July 31, down from $570 million for the same quarter in 2008. RV sales fell the most - 25.9 percent - to $337 million from $455 million.
