CVS Sees Higher Drug Sales From Health Coverage for Uninsured

CVS Caremark Corp. is supporting U.S. legislation to provide health coverage for tens of millions of uninsured, saying it would result in a "meaningful" expansion of drug use that may boost sales. Newly insured individuals tend to increase prescription drug use by 60 percent to 100 percent, said CVS Chief Financial Officer David Rickard. Previous coverage expansions lifted CVS’s retail sales as well as revenue from managing benefits, he said. The company is the largest U.S. drugstore chain. More

Zale Closes 118 Retail Locations in Q4

Zale Corp. announced that it has closed 118 retail locations in its fourth quarter due to underperformance. The company has closed 191 locations in the calendar year, including 160 retail stores and 31 kiosks. Zale will also settle some rent obligations for 34 Bailey, Banks & Biddle locations.
