Kohl's Corp., the fourth- largest U.S. department-store chain, expects Internet sales to climb at least 30 percent this year as it boosts advertising through sites. The chain's Internet sales trail Macy's Inc., the second- largest U.S. department-store chain, and J.C. Penney Co., the third-biggest, the CEO said.

Walgreen Co. plans to buy 12 Eaton Apothecary pharmacies in the Boston area from D.A.W. Inc., a subsidiary of Nyer Medical Group. Walgreens, which announced the deal, said the transaction is valued at about $19 million. The acquisition is expected to close in the next 90 days.More

J.C. Penney Corp. is looking at its new Manhattan, N.Y., store as a model for expanding into other metro areas as suburban malls no longer serve as foundations for growth and the retailer feels it has captured an edgier merchandise mix that can make it a winner with urban customers.
