Effectiveness of Mesotherapy on Body Contouring from PCI Journal
Mesotherapy is a method of delivery of pharmacologic agents into the mesoderm, the layers under the skin. The technique has been advocated by some as an alternative for liposuction in body contouring procedures. The drugs frequently used for injections are phosphatidylcholine, isoproterenol, aminophylline, caffeine, L-carnitine, buflomedil, and calcitonin, among others. Despite anecdotal reports confirming effectiveness, there have been no peer-reviewed clinical trials that show proven efficacy of localized injections for body contouring. More

Laser Treatment May Reverse Sun-Damaged Skin
from KOLO There was a time when sunscreen was not available, and before it became the mandatory beach and pool accessory that it is today. The result for many is skin damaged by the sun. With very few treatment options, dermatological testing has been ongoing, looking for the elusive treatment that will turn back time and revive sun-damaged skin. Now a new procedure has been developed—which uses a combination of topical solution (made by DUSA Pharmaceuticals Inc.) and laser treatment—that stimulates collagen production and can help rejuvenate skin that has been overexposed. The New Plastic
from AOL Thinking about having a typical nip and tuck procedure like a nose job or some lipo? That's so 2008. When it comes to trends in plastic surgery, Botox parties are the new black. As are toe-shortening procedures, vein removal on the hands and yes, calf and chin implants. We checked out the new plastic that also includes hymen reconstruction, eyelid surgery and more. More
Acne Cream Not Linked to Raised Death Risk from The Washington Post A new analysis suggests that an acne medication that was tried as a possible skin cancer preventative in a 1998 clinical trial probably did not cause the deaths of several veterans participating in that research. More
Skin Cancer More Deadly in Hispanics and Blacks, Study Suggests from Tampa Bay’s 10 Melanoma may be more common in whites, but a study suggests that skin cancer is deadlier in blacks and Hispanics because of late diagnosis. According to a study by the University of Miami, blacks are more than three times as likely as whites to be diagnosed with melanoma after it has reached a late stage. Hispanics are nearly twice as likely as whites to be diagnosed in the late stage.

Rapid Recovery Necklift Rises in Popularity
from Health News Digest As the field of cosmetic surgery continues to evolve with the times, patients desire more personally - tailored procedures and the dramatic results they covet with less time away from the office. Today's patients are seeking out procedures that are safe, effective and predictable. They are spending more cautiously and devoting more effort to doing their homework to avoid the pitfalls of highly touted procedures that do not last or look natural. To meet the demands of patients in the 40 - 55 year age bracket, I have pioneered the use of high definition 3D telescopic visualization of face neck structures, allowing surgery to be done with smaller incisions and greater precision. The Rapid Recovery Necklift technique works equally well for women and men, and downtime is significantly minimized.
