Rutledge looked a little out of place Thursday as he watched Judson football prospects complete the rigorous “boot camp” phase of their off-season. Football Coach Hired for New Byron Nelson High School
from Fort Worth Star-Telegram The Northwest ISD looked east to find their newest football coach, as the school board approved the hiring of Brian Polk, the current athletic director and football coach at Van Alstyne. Polk takes over at the district’s newest school – Byron Nelson High School
– as the head coach and campus athletic coordinator. He spent three seasons at Van Alstyne, located roughly 18 miles north of McKinney, and had previous coaching stops at Allen (as an offensive coordinator) and Garland, where he was part of the Owls’ 1999 Class 5A Division II championship team. Polk was one of six finalists for the Byron Nelson job.
