Americas Trailblazers Rally Around Best Player
from El Paso Times
They call her "T.K." It's short for her name, Teisha King, but it can have so many other meanings. It can mean point guard or point-forward or point center. It can stand for 22.7 points per game for an entire season, or 40 points in a single game. It can represent the Americas senior's role on the Trailblazers squad as an offensive threat, a leader or maybe as a friend. But for the 2008-09 girls basketball season, it will signify the El Paso Times All-City Most Valuable Player. More

Joshua Softball Senior and Her Teammates are Motivated
from Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Heather Dennie of Joshua is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Though in her case, it’s more like a softball and some lab equipment. She’s got the arm to pitch in college — she has a 13-1 record for the state’s sixth-ranked Class 4A team — but she also has the brain for medical school. Decisions, decisions. It is a decision Dennie, a senior, will have to make soon. But it’s far from the only thing on her mind. The Lady Owls (23-3, 9-0 District 8-4A) lost a 1-0 heartbreaker to rival Aledo in last season’s regional final. A win would have sent them to the state tournament, which Aledo eventually won. Dennie and her self-described "goofball" teammates keep that game fresh in their memories as fuel for motivation. It’s state or bust for these goofballs. More
