Marshall Swimming Coach Retiring
from San Antonio Express-News If not for the all-but-iconic “Marshall warmup,” numbers might have come to define Doug Andrew's 28 years as Marshall's swimming coach. In fact, the longtime Argyle Liberty Christian coach -- the only one the program had ever known -- needed three more months to finally decide he'd made the right decision after all. After getting "pressured" -- in a good way -- by Liberty Christian supporters to return and coach in the stadium that bears his name, Bowles took all the time he possibly could to decide he wanted out for good so he could spend more time with his wife and family. After 26 seasons and three state championships, he'd finally had enough. More
Chilton Golfer Dominguez Looking to Make History from Waco Tribune When Chilton’s Gabriella Dominguez put a peg in the ground and hit her first tee shot at the Class 1A state tournament in 2006, she was just another golfer. In fact, another Central Texas girl golfer seemed to be the favorite to claim the individual state title at the time. Valley Mills senior Nora Quinters had won the state championship as a sophomore and lost playoffs for the title as a freshman and junior. But Dominguez stepped out in front during that first round as a freshman. She shot 2-under-par 70, grabbed everyone’s attention and she’s scarcely let up since. More
