Multi Marketing: Using Cats in Your Advertising
Let’s face it. People love cats. Even if you’re among the people who claim to dislike those little balls of fur, who can really resist the adorable videos of cats that have flooded the Internet?
Many companies have been leveraging cats in their marketing strategies for years, and it has been paying off. From one of the original “catvertising” commercials in 2006, Cat Herders, to the most recent BuzzFeed series by the Samsung Galaxy Family, The 12 Cats of Chrismahanukwanzakah, cats have been winning over the hearts of consumers.
So why should you consider using cats in your advertising? 3 reasons:
1. Cats can create an emotional connection with your brand.
2. Cats can connect your old brand with the younger generation.
3. Cat videos get a lot more views.
Don’t believe #3? Take Cravendale Milk for example. You would expect a milk company to use a cow for advertising, right? Wrong. They tried it, and it just didn’t work. The cow commercial received just over 200,000 views on YouTube. They tried again with cats. This video outperformed the cow ad by 3,500%. 7.2 million views. Take a look at the two videos below.
Next time you’re considering putting out a video ad, base it around cats. You won’t be disappointed.
