AMCs Redefined: A Recap of AMC Institute's Annual Meeting

February 23, 2022
Last week, I had the privilege of attending AMC Institute’s Annual Meeting. The three-day event was hosted at the illustrious Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs and was the perfect setting to host an intimate gathering of thought leaders and key decision-makers across the association community. The schedule was jam-packed with interesting sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities to discuss a variety of topics, including:
As usual, this year’s line-up of keynotes were informative and highly engaging. While every speaker had their own insightful takeaways, one common message resonated throughout each presentation: AMCs are being redefined.
Over the last two years, Association Management Companies have encountered significant challenges and have fought to keep up with the increasing demands and expectations of clients. I spoke with many professionals who felt like they didn't have the right strategic plan in place and either acted too quickly or waited too long to make critical decisions. Every obstacle challenged AMCs to find new methods and approaches to solving problems in the midst of unprecedented events. But in the end, AMCs have become more adaptable and prepared to develop solutions that meet the needs of the hundreds of associations they serve. Now more than ever, AMCs are looking for strategic and creative collaboration as they redefine what it means to serve and support their clients.
Aside from the valuable content and information shared during the conference, what everyone seemed to enjoy most was the time to reconnect and engage with peers in authentic conversation. Everyone had a unique story to tell about the associations they manage and what they did to overcome. The event atmosphere echoed positive outlooks for 2022 and placed an emphasis on adaptability being the key to success as both AMCs and their clients come out of recovery and move into prosperity.
