'Sustainable’ is more than a marketing buzzword. It’s the new standard consumers expect from the products and services they purchase and the brands they buy into. A new report from the Capgemini Research Institute found that 79% of consumers are changing their purchase preferences based on social responsibility, inclusiveness, or environmental impact.
As businesses take steps toward finding sustainable alternatives, one of the first places they can start to make changes is in their marketing. Traditional media such as print advertising, direct mail, in-store signage, etc., by and large produce more waste and consume large amounts of energy. In comparison, digital media like display advertising, email marketing and social media have a smaller carbon footprint and are more energy efficient.
A common misconception about “going green” is that companies will have to increase expenses. While there may be some upfront costs, in the long-run, waste reduction and energy efficiency initiatives will reduce operational expenditures. More importantly, companies won't have to sacrifice on marketing ROI. In fact, employing eco-friendly marketing strategies to your mix in many cases will give you a better result. Here are 4 areas where your business can make the greener choice.
